Women win first match ever of the program, against Penn State Greater Allegheny

Rochester, PA- Penn State Beaver women's soccer win their first match of the program's history against Penn State Greater Allegheny.

In the first half, Greater Allegheny got the first goal at the 15:24 mark but that didn't stop Beaver from pushing to the net. Beaver was able to shoot 7 shots making only 1 by Ana Paula Garcia (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Santo Antonio) at the 28:45 mark tying up the match.

The game changing goal came in the second half when Jessica Spina (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) scored at the 76:58 mark giving Beaver the first lead they have ever had. Spina was assisted by Miranda Robson (Rochester, PA/Rochester). The momentum for Beaver picked up and they began to attempt shots on goal. At the 87:16 mark Beaver's Kiersten Manor (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) was able to get another goal, making the final score 3-1, Beaver. Goalie Amanda Donatelli (Indiana, PA/Indiana) was also helped keep the lead by stopping 7 shots on goals throughout the match.

Not only is this win the first for the program but it is the first win with the new roster additions and with new head coach, Shaun Schetka. Perhaps the new blood has rejuvenated the team and will garner future wins.

Beaver's next game is on Wednesday, October 9th at 4 p.m. against West Moreland Community College, hopefully this win has ended the losing streak for good.
