Women’s Soccer: Rosemont Edges Out Lady Wildcats 2-1

ROSEMONT, Pa. – Sophomore keeper Reda Vermilya (Turbotville) recorded eight saves but the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Rosemont College Saturday. Sophomore Robyn Beddow scored the lone goal for the Lady Wildcats in the game that was the team's season opener. Rosemont scored its game winner off a penalty kick late in the second half that sealed its victory.

A misguided pass from Penn College's (0-1) defense in the 15th allowed the Ravens' Tara Mohr to chip a ball easily into the back of the net. The lead would hold going into the break.

The Lady Wildcats had several strong opportunities to equalize hitting the posts multiple times before Beddow's goal came in the 74th when she broke through the defense and dribbled to goal.

The game looked to be heading to overtime, but in the 79th, Rosemont (1-0) capitalized on late tackle in the box, scoring on the penalty kick.

As a team, Penn College totaled 19 shots and had six corner kicks.

Next up, the Lady Wildcats travel to Baptist Bible College on Saturday, Sept. 7 for a 1 p.m. match.
