UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa- In front of an energetic crowd at the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State Beaver fought off a second half Penn State Brandywine rally to win their second consecutive PSUAC championship by the score of 100-74.

Beaver was led by sophomore guard Morgan Kurtz, who scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  Freshman guard Sydnee Abernathy scored 19 points off the bench for the PSUAC champs, while sophomore forward Cassandra Flowers recorded a doubled-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Jessica Gledhill led Brandywine with 18 points and six rebounds, with three other players notching in double figures: freshman forward Stacey MacArthur had 15, freshman forward Olivia Encarnacion had 13 and junior guard Myeisha Matos recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Beaver is the first team to repeat as champions since the 2010 season when they capped off their third straight title.

"Even winning it back-to-back, we never took it for granted; it was a great year," Beaver Athletic Director Andy Kirschner said. "We won as the number three seed last year too. I'm very proud of our players for never giving up and constantly battling through."

Returning to the home court of Penn State's varsity teams was a big deal for the championships, as Kirschner put it, "this is one of the nicest venues in the country; and for everyone involved up here to take the time and pencil us in for this, it was just a great experience."

As the PSUAC champion, Beaver receives an automtic bid for the USCAA National Championship next week at Penn State Fayette.  Kirschner stated that they are very excited, and that "we are looking forward to the selection show- our seeding, our opponent, our first game."
