Beaver cruises past Schuylkill

Schuykill, PA -- Friday, December 6th the Lady Lions traveled to Penn State Schuylkill for their conference opener.

Beaver's Khalia Adams (Washington D.C./Phelps) opened up the scoring in the game with a jump shot and the Lady Lions never looked back. In just over a minute, Beaver had a 6-0 lead as they looked to score early and often. At the 13:40 Schuylkill was able to tie the game at 10-10, but that was enough fuel for Beaver to take control of the half. That spark allowed them to carry a 20 point lead into the half (44-24).

In the second half Beaver's Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA/Ellwood) kept their scoring efforts going adding 4 points to open the half. By the 13:20 mark in the second half Beaver had increased their lead to 30 points (57-27) and easily cruised to victory by a final score of 89-35.

Junior, Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) and Freshman, Kelsey Brooks (Pittsburgh, PA/Carrick) both recorded double-doubles. Ward with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Brooks with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brooks was also the leading scorer in the game.

This victory gave the Lady Lions their first conference win of the season. They look to continue their winning streak as they travel to Penn State Brandywine Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
