Women’s Basketball: Lady Wildcats Fall to Alfred State 69-34

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Margaret Dewire (Beaver Springs) recorded eight rebounds and seven points to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team in its 69-34 loss to Alfred State Thursday. The Lady Wildcats struggled to control the ball totaling 40 turnovers in the game. Junior Alison Van Metter (Saylorsburg) and freshman Chelsea Burger (Millersburg) each notched seven points in the loss that drops Penn College to 0-4 overall.  

  

Van Metter opened the game with a three to put the Lady Wildcats up early. Penn College sunk three three-pointers for the game. The team kept the slim lead until the 16th when the Pioneers tied it up and then countered with a 14-0 run to take a 19-5 lead with just under ten minutes remaining.

 

Down 29-13, junior Niesha Williams (Williamsport) hit a three to cut the lead to 13 going into the break down just 29-16.

 

For the half, the Lady Wildcats shot .220 (4-20) from the field.

 

Alfred (1-1) opened the second half with a 7-0 run to make it 37-16. The squad continued to build up its lead ending the game with its largest at 35 points.

 

For the game, the Lady Wildcats totaled 46 rebounds.

 

Penn College next travels to Pitt-Titusville for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Nov. 23.
