Lady Lions Lose Second Straight Game

St. Clairsville, OH- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver (8-3, 5-0 PSUAC) had their second straight away game this evening against Ohio University Eastern (St. Clairsville, OH)

The Lady Panthers of Ohio University hit the games first shot before Coleen Mead (Newport Harbor/Costa Mesa, CA) hit a three pointer giving Beaver a 3-2 lead. OUE went on a 10-0 run after that to lead 12-3 before an Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) layup to end it. Three pointers from Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) and Hali DeSarro (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) brought the Lady Lions back within eight in the half. Beaver would trail however 45-34 at the half.

In the second half, the Lady Lions came out strong going on a 11-0 run to open it up. This was due to two consecutive turnovers by OUE, and two three pointers from Brooke Mulneix (Riverside/Beaver Falls, PA) and Mead giving them a one point lead with 16:01 left in the game. A free throw by Kalynn Hill (Montour/Pittsburgh, PA) gave Beaver a 2 point lead; their first lead since 18:06 in the first half and what would be their only lead of the game. The Lady Panthers went on a 6-0 run after falling behind regaining their lead. Beaver tried to come back into the game after trailing by 10 (69-59) but OUE went on another 11-0 run going on to win for then night. 

For the evening, Temple led the Lady Lions with 25 points, followed by Mulneix and Mead with 11 each. 

The Lady Lions will return home on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 6pm against Penn State Hazelton (Hazelton, PA). Free PSU Beaver water bottles will be given away at the game to the first 100 in attendance.
