Steer Notches Double-Double in Loss to Lions

HAZLETON, Pa. –Junior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) had 16 points and 11 rebounds to notch a double-double in the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team's 79-49 loss to Penn State Hazleton.  Steer was one of three Wildcats in double figures that included freshmen Niesha Williams (Williamsport) with 10 and Brianna Savini (Reading) with 11.  The game is the first in conference for the team that falls to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Hazleton was on fire from the beginning building its lead throughout the first half.  The team went into the half up its largest lead at 46-20.   Out of the break, the Lions continued to show offense prowess.  Down 73-33, Penn College put together a 6-2 run, three from Steer, to bring it to 75-41 with just over seven minutes remaining.  It was the closest the game was in the second half.

Turnovers were a major factor in the game.  The Wildcats committed 29 total accounting for 27 of Hazleton's points.  As a team, the Wildcats show .302 (16-53) from the field and were out-rebounded 45-40.
