Softball Drops Pair of PSUAC Double-Headers

Pittsburgh, Pa- The Greater Allegheny (4-13, 2-8 PSUAC) softball team dropped a pair of PSUAC double-headers, as they were swept by Penn State Beaver- 14-5 and 8-0- and Penn State Mont Alto- 10-1 and 15-4.

Freshman Shelby Bendick (White Oak, PA/McKeesport) went 1-2 and collected three RBI's in the first game against Beaver, with sophomore Jordyn Holsing (McKeesport, PA/Elizabeth Forward), freshmen Ashley Lowenstein (San Jose, CA/Presentation), Sydney Harris (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) and Nichole Metzler (California, PA/California) each adding a hit apiece. In game two, Lowenstein, Bendick, and Harris each drilled base hits.

In the first match-up against Mont Alto, Holsing added another hit and scored the lone GA run, driven in by Lowenstein. Junior Samantha Segiel (North Huntindon, PA/Norwin) had the home team's third hit, in her 1-2 performance at the plate. In game two, Lowenstein turned in a 2-3 effort, while scoring two runs. Bendick and sophomore Kelli Hall (McKeesport, PA) went 1-3 with an RBI each, with Holsing also driving in a run. Junior Jessica Yanosky (West Newton, PA/Yough) went 1-1 with a run scored.

Greater Allegheny returns to action tomorrow afternoon for a pair of conference games against Penn State Schuylkill. First pitch of game one is set for 12 PM.
