Lady Lions Shut Out CCBC in Double-Headers

Monaca, Pa- The Women's Softball Team of Penn State Beaver (10-16, 3-1 PSUAC) played at home this morning against CCBC (Monaca, Pa).

The Lady Lions started off game one scoring nine runs in the first inning. Lauren Pier (New Brighton/New Brighton, Pa) highlighted the inning recording her third homerun of the season, scoring in both Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley/Penns Valley, Pa) and freshman Constance Robinson (University of Chicago Charter/Chicago, Il.). Beaver scored nine more runs in the third, and two more in the fourth, going on to win easily 20-0. Korey Freyermuth(Perry/Pittsburgh, Pa) pitched four innings, allowing only one hit, and strucking out five players. Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley/Cranberry Township, Pa) pitched one scoreless inning as well.

In game two, Bowersox recorded an inside the park homerun as Beaver defeated CCBC 17-3. Freyermuth pitched five innings, strikingout seven players, and allowing three hits.

The Lady Lions return on the road to take on Penn State Fayette (Uniontown, Pa) Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2 p.m.
