Beaver drops last game of the day against Briarcliff College

Troutville, VA – In the third game of the day, Beaver faced Briarcliff College.  Briarcliff scored two in the third inning to get on the board first and added to their lead in the fourth with another run.  Beaver started their comeback in the 5th inning with a Rachel Borrell (Downingtown East/Downtington, PA) walk who was followed by singles by Lauren Pier (New Brighton/New Brighton) and Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley/Penn Valley).  Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley/Cranberry Township, PA), with the bases loaded, hit a sacrifice fly to score Borrell which was the lone run of the inning and eventually of the game for the Lady Lions.

Offensively for Beaver, Pier and Myranda Raymond (Brashear/Pittsburgh, PA) both had 2 hits as well as Bowersox, Watkins and Lindsey Scialdone (Ellwood City/Ellwood City) who all had a hit a piece. 

On the mound for the Lady Lions was Korey Freyermuth (Perry Traditional/Pittsburgh, PA) who pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs.  She also struck out 6 of the 29 batters faced.

Beaver is now 3-14 on the year and they play again Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:00am at the Botetourt Sports Complex.
