Myrtle Beach, SC - The Lady Lions took on Sauk Valley this afternoon in the Fast Pitch Dreams Tournament.

Beaver took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when sophomore Lauren Pier (New Brighton, New Brighton, PA) and junior Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley/Cranberry Township, PA) both singled and got into scoring position.  With one out, junior Korey Freyermuth (Perry Traditional/Pittsburgh, PA) hit a two RBI single scoring Pier and Wakins.  They continued to build on their lead in the fourth inning when freshmen Sydney Brinton (Brashear/Pittsburgh, PA) and Rachell Borrell (Downingtown East/Downingtown, PA) both singled.  With two women on base, freshman Nicole Bowersox (Penn Valley/Penns Valley, PA) doubled to score Brinton.  With the score 3-0 going into the 6th inning Sauk battled back scoring 2 runs.  In the seventh inning, the score 3-2, Beaver played stellar defense.  Bowersox threw out the first batter at first, the second batter flied out to Freyermuth and to end the game was Bowersox making a diving catch at short stop.

Earning the win on the mound today was Freyermuth who is now 1-5 and in this outting pitched all 7 innings, allowed 7 hits and 2 runs.

Freyermuth made big contributions offensively as well.  She went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.  Also making contributions were senior Lindsey Scialdone (Ellwood City/Ellwood City, PA) who went 2 for 3 and Bowersox who was 1 for 4 with an RBI.

The Lady Lions play again Thursday morning when they take on Sauk Valley for the second time.
