Men's soccer match ends in a tie

Lehman, PA- Penn State Beaver men's soccer against Penn State Wilkes-Barre ends in a tie.

In the first half, the ball went back and forth with several shots on goal. Neither team could capitalize on the shots until the final minutes of the half. Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) was able to pass to Yousef Salhi (Doha, Qatar/International School of Choueifat) who then scored, giving Beaver a one point lead. A minute later Wilkes-Barre scored, tying up the score ending the half.

In the second half, neither team could make goals. Goalie Matt Fetch (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) made save after save keeping the score tied throughout the half. The match then went into a golden goal overtime.

In the first overtime each team's offense lacked and their defense kept goals from happening. The match became very suspenseful and the players drive built and each team played exceptionally well causing there to be no score throughout this overtime and a second overtime. The final score was a tie 1-1.

Beaver's next game is against Penn State Hazelton on October 5th at 1 p.m.
