HAZLETON, Pa. – Senior Ben Shade (Fleetwood) scored in the 69th to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team to a 1-0 win against Penn State Hazleton. Shade scored off a deflection from Hazleton's keeper ripping one into the far corner. Junior David Munn (Athens) recorded the shutout with three saves. The win clinches the top seed for the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs next week and improves the team to 12-2-1 overall and 9-0 in conference.
In a highly aggressive first half, both teams had strong chances but were unable to capitalize. The Wildcats totaled 10 shots in the half to Hazleton's three.
Coming out of the break, it was Penn College who dominated play and had several close calls on corner kicks. The team totaled six for the game. Finding the goal proved to be the biggest issue for the Wildcats as they totaled 19 shots but only seven found their way onto goal.
The Wildcats finish out their regular season on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they host Bryn Athyn College at 1 p.m.
