Late Surge from Pioneers Deals Penn College a Draw

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Despite being up 2-0, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team settled for a draw against Alfred State College 2-2 Wednesday.  Senior Ben Shade (Fleetwood) and freshman Tarik LaRoche (Muncy) scored the goals for the Wildcats.  The draw drops the team to 0-1-1.

Shade opened up scored in the 20th when he got a clean pass from LaRoche to score from the left of the box.  LaRoche then put Penn College up 2-0 in the 56th when he took a kick on a set piece into the top of the goal.

The second half was all Alfred State though as they outshot the Wildcats 16-11.  Daniel Asante and Mitchell Porter scored back-to-back goals in the 75th and 80th minutes to send it into extra time.  Both teams had strong opportunities, but settled for the draw.

Freshman Jonatan Leon-Ruiz (Landenburg) recorded eight saves on the save while the Pioneers' Nick Smith had 11.

Next up, Penn College travels to Penn State Brandywine for its first conference contest on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
