Beaver's home opener spoiled by LaRoche

Unionville, PA---The Penn State Beaver Men's Soccer Team hosted their first contest of the 2012 season as they welcomed the Redhawks of LaRoche College to Green Valley Park on Tuesday afternoon.  LaRoche downed the Lions by a score of 7-3. The Lions fell behind by scores of 2-0 and 4-1 in the first and went into intermission trailing by three. The Beaver first half goal was netted by Tyler Blake (Crescent, Moon) with the assist from Juan Castano (Coraopolis, Moon). Beaver came out strong in the second half, getting a goal from Brad Prosper (Aliquippa, Central Valley) with the assist once again from Castano. Blake found the back of the net once again for Beaver with the assist from Youseff Helal (Cairo, Egypt, Choueirat) which cut the Redhawk lead to just one. Unfortunately, Beaver's comeback fell short as LaRoche answered with three straight goals to win the game 7-3.

Beaver was led by Blake, whose two goals game him three goals in three games to open the season. LaRoche got a hat trick from Bryan Weimerskirch and he also added an assist. Tyler Gargis compiled ten saves for Beaver as they fell to 0-3.

Beaver will once again play at home in Green Valley Park as Thiel College comes to town on Thursday evening with the game scheduled to kick off at 6pm. As always continue to check the Penn State Beaver athletic website all season long for Men's Soccer updates.
