Hazleton gives Penn College their first conference loss

The loss is the first this year in conference play for the Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team dropped its first conference match of the season with a 1-0 loss to Penn State Hazleton Tuesday night. Penn College outshot the Lions 24-14 but failed to get any momentum. The loss now drops the team to 8-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Hazleton scored early in the first in the 14th minute when Noah Martz dodged the Penn College defense for a breakaway he pushed past freshman keeper Aaron Volz (West Chester). The Wildcats were a bit shaky after that not able to get any momentum and having been called offsides six times in the half. The team had eight total for the game.

Volz ended the night with two saves.

Freshman Matteo Frazzoni (Southampton Bermuda) had the best opportunity in the second when he sent a laser just over the crossbar.

The loss now gives Penn State York the #1 seed for the playoffs with the Wildcats holding onto #2 with two games left.

Next up, Penn College travels to Penn State Scranton on Wednesday, Oct. 19 for a 4 p.m. game.
