PSUAC Golf Championship Day 1 Recap: Hazleton, Masenheimer Lead

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2021 PSUAC Golf Championships are currently underway in State College. Penn State Hazleton holds a 17-shot advantage over Penn State York after day one, shooting 312 as a team. Penn State Lehigh Valley's Ian Masenheimer shot 1-over par 73 on the overcast day, good for a one-stroke lead over Hazleton's Jeremy Harper, the PSUAC defending champion.

Hazleton sits only eight strokes behind the third place team in the USCAA Championship. Masenheimer is currently tied for fourth overall in the USCAA.

York's Logan Snyder, who won both PSUAC Invitationals this season, shot 75 to sit just two back of the conference leader. Hazleton's Joey Rebarchick is currently in fourth in the PSUAC with a 78.

The team race looks to be a two-horse race as the next team, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, sits in third place and is 21 shots behind York.

The event, held concurrently with the USCAA Golf National Championships, is hosted by the PSUAC at the Penn State Blue Course on the University Park campus. The two-day event has more than 25 teams competing, with 11 Penn State campuses represented.
