Fayette Golf Finishes Fourth at Mont Alto Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - The Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions golf team opened their 2011 campaign with a fourth place finish at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational on Thursday at Penn National Golf Club.

Freshman Eric Harrer (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) led Fayette with a 91 on the par-72 layout, followed by Shelby Dziak (Eighty Four, Pa.) with a 92. Seniors Sam Beucher (Connellsville, Pa.) and Shawn Nicholson (Connellsville, Pa.) carded a 95 and 97, respectively. Sophomore Tyler Broadwater (Mill Run, Pa.) shot 107 to round out the Fayette scores.

The Roaring Lions team score of 375 placed them fourth, three strokes behind Penn State Greater Allegheny. Penn College won the tournament by nine strokes over host Penn State Mont Alto, carding a 336 team score. Penn College's Corey Teeple won the individual tournament with a 2-over par 74, winning by seven shots over Mont Alto's Chris Rhein.

The Roaring Lions return to action on Monday, Sept. 19 as they travel to the Penn College Invitational at White Deer Challenge Golf Course in Montgomery, Pa. The shotgun start will begin at 11:00 a.m.
