Penn State York (24-5, 17-2) vs. Penn State Brandywine (16-17, 11-8)

We’ve got an all-East Division championship matchup this year, with Penn State York squaring off against Penn State Brandywine.

Led by East Player of the Year Deriq Brown, York finished the year atop the East with a 24-5 overall record and 17-2 in-conference.

Brown is the team leader in scoring, putting up 17.8 points per game. He’s also the team’s most efficient, shooting 56.6 percent from the field and 48.6 percent from deep. Brown does it all for York, as he’s the main man on the glass as well, averaging 8.6 rebounds per contest.

Behind Brown, it’s senior Michael Coleman, the East Defensive Player of the Year.

To compliment his defensive prowess, Coleman is second on the team in points per game with 15.7 and rebounds per game with 5.9. He’s also the leading facilitator averaging 3.5 assists per matchup and shoots a stellar 40.3 from the field, and a respectable 34.3 from three.

Brown and Coleman alone will give Penn State Brandywine all it can handle.

As for Brandywine, it finished the year with a 16-17 overall record, went 11-8 in-conference and was slotted third in the final East standings.

Brandywine is led by leading-scorer and East First-Team selection, Bryce Barrouk. Barrouk averages 17.7 points per game, shoots 48.2 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from three and leads the team in the rebounds department, grabbing 9 per game.

Paired with Barrouck is the East Rookie of the Year, Colin Hockenbrock.

Hockenbrock is second on the team in scoring and rebounds per game, posting 12.9 and 6.2, respectively. He also shoots an impressive 55.5 percent from the field.

York and Brandywine have gone against each other twice this year already, with York taking both contests (74-63, 81-73).

In the semifinals, No. 1 seeded York squeaked out of overtime with a 91-86 win over No. 3 Penn State Greater Allegheny. No. 3 seeded Brandywine upset No. 1 seeded Mont Alto, 65-56.

York is seeking its 5th championship in the last 10 years and first since 2019, while it would only be Brandywine’s second ever and first since 2018.
