Beaver erases late deficit, beats Hazelton by 1

Hazelton, PA--- Beaver, down by 9 points with 2 minutes left to play, improved to 8-0 in PSUAC play by knocking off PSU Hazelton by a score of 80-79 on Friday night. Beaver held Hazelton scoreless in the final two minutes of play while going on a 10-0 run to win the contest by 1. Beaver led at the half 42-38 but Hazelton got off to a strong start in the second half and controlled much of the second 20 minutes leading by 9 with just 2 minutes left to play. Beaver cut the lead to 4 when Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) hit a three with just 17 seconds left to make it a one point game. Beaver got the deciding two points from Pat Horton (Farrell, Farrell), whose lay-up with only 5 seconds left proved to be the difference.

Beaver was led offensively by Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) who scored 19 points and also added 12 rebounds. Miller finished with 17 points and Horton added 17 points and also grabbed 8 rebounds. Julian Taylor (Rochester, Rochester) scored 15 points for Beaver.

Beaver now improves to 11-3 overall and 8-0 in the PSUAC. Beaver will play again Saturday afternoon when they play away at PSU Lehigh Valley with tip-off scheduled for 2pm.
