Men's Basketball: Newman Notches 19 In Wildcats' Loss to PSU Beaver

MONACA, Pa. - Sophomore Jesse Newman (Waterfall) notched 19 points as the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team lost 79-62 to Penn State Beaver Saturday. The loss is the Wildcats' fifth straight as they drop to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Scott Fenton (Dickson City) was also in double figures with 15 points.
After going down 10-2 in the opening minutes of the game, Penn College countered with an 8-0 run, four from Newman to tie it up at 13:28. The Lions were not dissuaded and built up the lead to as high as 10. Keeping it close for the remainder of the period, Penn College went into the half down just 40-34.
The Wildcats opened up the second half with a 6-1 run, four from Fenton, to make it a 41-40 game at 18:10. Beaver settled and built the lead to 66-44. The Wildcats chipped away and brought it to 70-60 with 4:51 left, but were unable to get it closer ending the game with a 17 point deficit.
Penn College out-rebounded the Lions 34-30 with freshman Parrish Wragg (Baltimore, Md.) leading with eight. Turnovers continued to plague the team as it committed 28 with the Lions notching 23 steals.
Next up, the Wildcats travel to Berkeley College (NJ) on Saturday, Dec. 15 for a 6 p.m. game.
