Beaver tips-off season with win

Washington, PA---- The Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball Team kicked off the 2012-2013 campaign by traveling to Washingotn and Jefferson for the Second Annual Washington Area Credit Union Tournament. Beaver opened up with the host team W&J on Saturday night and came away with win number one on the season as they won 80-69.

Beaver was led offensively by Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) who finished with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Junior Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) added 23 points and also dished out 4 assists. Newcomer Lamont Wright (Penn Hills, Penn Hills) had 10 points in his first game in a Beaver uniform as three Lions were in double figures. Junior Markes Royster (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) had 5 assists and Mike Martin (Dublin OH, Dublin Jerome) had 5 rebounds.

Beaver led the contest the entire way as they advance in the four team tournament and will play the winner of the tournaments other Saturday contest, Ohio Northern, on Sunday at 1pm. Continue to check to the Beaver Athletic Website all season long for updates.
