Wilkes Barre Edges out Wildcats 58-47

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After starting the game hot and building a double-digit lead, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team offense stalled and allowed Penn State Wilkes Barre to steal a 58-47 victory.  Freshmen Colton Acorn (Wellsboro) and Azeez Sulaimon (Burtonsville, Md.) led the team scoring 10 each.  The loss drops the team to 4-19 overall and 4-10 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Out of the gate, Penn College went on an 8-1 run, three from freshman Michael Smith (Pleasantville, N.J.).  Freshman Bryant House (Columbia Crossroads) hit a layup at 9:19 to give the team its biggest lead at 21-11.  The Lions countered with a 12-0 run to take the lead at 2:40.  They held on and went into the break up 30-25.

House ended the game with seven.  Wilkes Barre came out of the break on a 9-0 run giving the team the 11 point lead.  The Wildcats slowly climbed back and sophomore Ethan Kline (Bellefonte) hit a three at 5:41 to make it a 44-42 game.  Turnovers mixed with key shooting allowed Wilkes Barre to get back the lead and end the game up by 11.

The Wildcats ended the game with 31 rebounds and shot .367 (18-49) from the field. Also for Wilkes Barre, Jared James had 12 points and Frank Peters notched 11.
