Beaver Keeps Winning Steak Alive

Uniontown, PA- The Men's Basketball Team of Penn State Beaver (18-4, 13-1 PSUAC) went on the road this afternoon to take on Penn State Fayette (Uniontown, PA).

Freshman Patrick Horton (Farrell/Farrell, PA) put Beaver on the board first. The game tied once at four, but a three pointer by Nick Miller (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) started a 17-6 run for Beaver giving them a huge lead 21-10 with 9:20 left in the first half.  A steal and layup by Tyler Care (Lincoln Park/Hopewell, PA) gave Beaver a 15 point lead (32-17). Beaver went into halftime up 44-34.

Horton scored first in the second half as well, but Fayette responded with a 14-6 run to bring the game within two (50-48) with 15:31 left in the half. Chris Weathers (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) ended their run with a layup starting an 8-0 run for Beaver. A three pointer by Care and layup by Quentin Burton (Ambridge/Ambridge, PA) gave Beaver an 11 point lead again (63-52). Despite Fayette trying to comeback late in the game, a three pointer by Miller capped off Beaver's win 86-79.

Weathers lead all scorers for the afternoon with 23 points, followed by Horton with 15, Miller with 13, and Darius Prince (West Mifflin/Pittsburgh, PA) with 10. Prince also lead the team in rebounds, with 16 of his own. Beaver shot 45.9% from the field, 20% from three point range, and 65.2% from the free throw line.

Beaver will go back on the road on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 7 p.m against Penn State New Kensington (New Kensington, PA).
