Wildcats Snap Eight Game Losing Streak with 53-50 Win Over PSU Lehigh Valley

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – In a game with seven lead changes and five ties, the Pennsylvania College of Technology defeated Penn State Lehigh Valley 53-50 Monday night.  The win snaps an eight game losing streak dating back to December.  Freshman Scott Fenton (Dickson City) led all scorers with 23 points and notched a 'double-double' pulling down 13 boards.

Penn College (2-15, 2-6 PSUAC) was down early in the first half as Renier Riddick led a 6-0 run for the Lions with four points.  Sophomore Nyeem Haynes (Elkins Park) shut down the run with a jumper and then followed it up with a three to bring it to one.  Lehigh Valley held the lead until the seventh when sophomore Bryant House (Columbia Crossroads) hit a three to make it 18-17.  Four more lead changes ensued with both teams going into the half tied at 26.

Haynes ended the game with eight points while Riddick had 21.

The Wildcats came out of the break with a 3-0 run, two from freshman Colton Acorn (Wellsboro).  It was the largest lead they would have as both teams see-sawed for the lead.  With just over two minutes left, Lehigh Valley had the lead at 49-48.  Freshman Nicholas Deleon (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a layup to get the lead and the Wildcats held on hitting their free throws for the win.

As a team, Penn College shot .392 (20-51) from the field and out-rebounded the Lions 37-33.

Next up, the Wildcats host Penn State Hazleton on Tuesday, Jan. 31 for an 8 p.m. game.
