Baseball: Greater Allegheny Captures Third Straight PSUAC Title

MONT ALTO, PA-  Trailing 4-2 entering the home half of the fourth, Greater Allegheny found its offensive stride as they scored seven runs in the game's final three innings to clinch their third consecutive PSUAC Championship with a 9-4 win over Beaver. 

Greater Allegheny opened the scoring with two runs in the first, when Gianmarco Concepcion singled home Clay Groff and Aaron McGee.  Beaver immediately answered in the top of the second with a pair of runs, including one on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Thellman. 

Beaver took their first lead of the day in the fourth, when a sacrifice fly from Shawn Shaner and an RBI double from Jordan Price gave the visitors a 4-2 lead.  Top-seeded Greater Allegheny struck back in the next half inning with three runs of their own, to take a 5-4 lead.  After a leadoff triple by Adam Jacko, Clay Groff drilled a two-run homer to tie the game at four.  Troy Ambros followed an Aaron McGee walk with an RBI double, pushing Greater Allegheny ahead for good. The home team would plate four more runs in the game's final two innings, sealing the 9-4 win. 

Gianmarco Cencepcion led Greater Allegheny with a perfect 3-3 day at the plate, with a double and two RBI's.  Clay Groff went 2-3 with a double, home run and three RBI's, while Troy Ambros, Joshua Arroyo and Terance Wroniak each recorded an RBI.

Jordan Price, Tyler Thellman and Shawn Shaner collected an RBI apiece for Beaver, while Nick Casasanta, Derek Bozic and Albert Araiza each scored a run.  Andrew Emes threw four strong innings for Beaver, while his brother Eddie started and completed two full innings for Greater Allegheny.

With their third consecutive title, Greater Allegheny turns it sights towards the USCAA World Series in Newport News, Virginia where they will be the number two seed.
