Baseball: Wildcats Shut Out PSU Wilkes Barre 15-0 and 11-0

WILKES BARRE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team scored 26 runs on its way to two wins against Penn State Wilkes Barre 15-0 and 11-0. Both games ended in five with sophomore Matthew Demilio (Greensburg) throwing a complete game shutout in game one and sophomore Craig Watson (McEwensville) and freshman Luke Zamiskie (Latrobe) combining for the shutout in game two. The Wildcats are now 18-12 overall and 15-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC).  

In the opener, Demilio threw five strong allowing only four hits and notching four strikeouts. Penn College got things started in the first with four runs including an RBI double from freshman James Simasek (Landenberg). He ended the game 2 for 2 with two RBI.  

Up 5-0 in the third, Watson hit a two RBI double capping off three runs in the third. In the fourth, after Simasek and sophomore Zachary Weil recorded RBI, sophomore Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) hit a two RBI double making it 13-0.

Zachary Buterbaugh ended the game 3 for 4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Two more runs in the fifth finalized the win ending it early. Also for the Wildcats, junior Cody Buterbaugh (Conestoga) was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.

In the second game, Watson pitched the first three innings allowing only two hits while striking out three. Zamiskie closed out the last two with only four hits.

Zachary Buterbaugh hit a leadoff home run in the first. In the second, Cody Buterbaugh hit a two RBI double capping off four runs. Junior Christian Calle (College Point, N.Y.) recorded an RBI single making it 6-0 in the third.

Cody Buterbaugh ended the game 2 for 2 with two RBI.

Penn College closed out its tab in the fourth with four runs that included a two-run home run from sophomore Travis Hendershot (Muncy). He ended the game 2 for 3 with two RBI.

Next up, the Wildcats host Penn State Brandywine on Sunday, Apr. 21 for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
