Baseball: Wildcat Bats Fall Silent in Loss to King's

 

WILKES BARRE, Pa. – Freshman Jeremy Rall (Williamsport) was 2 for 2 but the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball lost 9-4 to an offensive King's College Thursday. The Monarchs put up 15 hits in the nine-inning game. Junior Cody Buterbaugh (Conestoga) and sophomore Travis Hendershot both recorded two RBI in the loss. The Wildcats are now 14-8 overall.

Cody Buterbaugh put Penn College up 1-0 in the first scoring sophomore Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) who opened the game with a double. King's wasted no time putting up four in the bottom off of four hits.

The game stayed the same until the fourth when the Monarchs added another run. Sophomore starter Matthew Demilio (Greensburg) pitched one more inning allowing three more runs to make it an 8-1 game. He closed out his book with 12 hits and seven earned runs.

The Wildcats made it 8-4 with three runs in the sixth. Cody Buterbaugh recorded his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly. Two batters later, Hendershot hit a double to left center scoring two.

Freshman Derek Umstead (Linden) pitched two innings relief allowing Kings' final run in the seventh. Freshman Seth Bowersox (Port Royal) came in and pitched the eighth with no hits.

Penn College totaled five hits for the game.

Next up, the Wildcats travel to Mansfield University for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday, April 14.
