Baseball: Early Runs Too Much for Wildcats to Overcome

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - After allowing eight runs in the first three innings, the Pennsylvania College of Technology could not overcome the defecit and lost 8-4 to North Central Missouri College Tuesday night. The game was held at Pelican Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and is the third in the team's Ripken Experience Tournament. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 2-3 overall.

After a scoreless first inning, starter Luke Zamiskie (Fr/Latrobe) got into some trouble in the second as Missouri scored six runs, all with two outs. The Wildcats committed an error in the inning making three of the runs unearned.

After two more runs in the third, freshman Derek Umstead (Linden) came in relief and shut down the offense going two strong with no hits and two strikeouts. Sophomore Craig Watson finished out the game pitching the final inning with no hits and two strikeouts.

Penn College got on the board in the fourth when sophomore Zachary Weil (Kutztown) hit a double to score two. After reaching third on a passed ball, he scored on a wild pitch making it 8-3. Freshman Kyle Eck (South Williamsport) scored the final run in the sixth hitting an RBI single to score freshman James Simasek (Landenberg) who was on off a single.

In total, the Wildcats had nine team hits.

Next up, Penn College takes on Adirondack Community College and Albert Magnus College on Wednesday, Mar. 13 starting at 1 p.m.
