Beaver falls in title game

In the championship game of the PSUAC conference tournament, Beaver fell to Penn State Mont Alto by a score of 3-2.

Ron Wilkins (Hookstown, South Side High School) threw the complete game for Beaver, giving up 3 runs on just 5 hits and struck out four. The solid pitching performance from Wilkins was not enough however as the Beaver offense could never really get going in the contest.

Beaver was only able to collect a total of 5 hits in the game and no players had multiple hits. They scored one in the sixth when Jimmy Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge) led off the inning with a single and eventually scored on a two-out RBI single from Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny). Mont Alto then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead heading into the final inning. Beaver scored on in the top of the seventh with a Grant Scott (Sewickley, Ann Arbor Pioneer) RBI single but couldn't tie the game up and eventually the game ended as a 3-2 Mont Alto victory.
