Beaver finishes with 2 wins

Beaver finished off their 2012 PSUAC regular season conference play with a doubleheader sweep of fellow conference member Penn State Scranton by scores of 15-0 and 19-7.

Game one was started by Ronnie Wilkins (Hookstown, South Side High School) who went five shut-out innings, giving up only two hits and carried a no hitter into the fifth inning until a two-out single finished off the no-hit bid.  Beaver's offense exploded in the contest as five players finished with two hits. Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, Monaca), Andrew DiPietrantonio (Beaver, Beaver), Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell), Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny) and Markus Allen (New Castle, Union) each had two hits and Allen's two hits included two triples. Allen finished with four RBI, Filippi had three RBI and Zack DelTurco (Monaca, Monaca) added two RBI.

Vinny Beatty (Rochester, Rochester) started game two and went five innings, giving up four earned runs on nine hits and struck out eight. DiPietrantonio, Jimmy Musgrave (Ambridge, Ambridge) and Grant Scott (Sewickley, Ann Arbor Pioneer) each had two hits while Filippi had three hits. Scott had three RBI including a three-run home run and Filippi and DiPietrantonio had two RBI.
