Johnson Wins No. 300 As Brandywine Downs Schuylkill

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine Head Women's Basketball Coach Larry Johnson won the 300^th game of his career as the Lions upended Penn State Schuylkill 74-66 on Wednesday night.

Johnson, in the midst of his 18^th season leading the Lions, is the first coach in any sport from Brandywine to win 300 games. The five-time Penn State University Athletic Conference Coach of the Year owns a career 300-167 mark and has guided Brandywine to four conference championships.

After trailing 21-19 through 10 minutes, Brandywine took over during the second quarter, outscoring Schuylkill 25-7. Fueled by 11 points from Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), Brandywine used a 17-2 run to begin the period to build a 36-23 edge.

Floyd added a triple and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) converted a three-point play in a span of 1:23 as the Lions' lead swelled to 20 points late in the half, but Schuylkill notched the final four points of the period to get within 44-28 at the break.

The margin returned to 20 points as Athena Brombacher (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood) sank a layup at the 7:00 mark of the third quarter. Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) scored the first six points and Kaitlyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) buried a three-pointer to cap a 9-2 spurt to close the third as Brandywine owned its biggest advantage of the night at 62-36.

The hosts fought back during the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to just 10 with 2:47 to play, but Allen and Brombacher sank free throws during the final two minutes to end any further threat from Schuylkill.

Floyd knocked down three triples and poured in a game-high 26 points, while Allen added 11 points and Brombacher notched 10. Johnson chipped in with nine and Stewart-Harold tallied eight.

Brandywine (12-10, 10-6 PSUAC) returns home for Senior Day on Saturday when the Lions host Penn State Hazleton at 1:00 PM.
