Two Second-Half Goals Lift Brandywine In Home Tournament Championship

MEDIA, Pa. -- Mikey Dunham (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) and Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) scored second-half goals as the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team clipped SUNY ESF 2-0 to win the championship game of its home tournament on Sunday afternoon.

The first half was a defensive stalemate between the teams, who combined for just three shots attempts, all from Brandywine.

The Lions broke through during the 51st minute as Dunham scored his second goal in as many days with a back heel flip off Kyle Reuter's (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) corner kick.

Just under six minutes later, it was Manful's turn to find the back of the net for the sixth time in four games this fall. Peter Glass' (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) long throw in eluded a pair of SUNY ESF defenders and found Manful, who easily deposited an insurance goal for the Lions.

Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) stopped both shots he faced during the second half to earn his second shutout of the tournament. Brandywine put nine shots on goal, including seven on target during the final 45 minutes.

Brandywine (3-1) will be back at home Tuesday to face Immaculata at 4:00 PM.
