Men's soccer loses to NK in conference showdown 5-1

Penn State New Kensington scored four second half goals on their way past Mont Alto on Friday afternoon in conference action by a final of 5-1.

 

In the games second minute, Jacob Guerrini crossed a ball to a waiting Devin Murray who headed one to the back of the net as Mont Alto found itself in an early 1-0 hole. Both teams would play a tight defensive half as New Kensington led just 1-0 after one half of play.

 

In the second half, Mont Alto was outshot 12-2 as they conceded four second half goals. River Terry found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season as he sent a ball past keeper Kenton Knox on a good centering pass.

 

Michael Chaloupka (47' & 64'), Finn Bethurum (60'), and Ethan Krystek (82') each recorded second half scoring for the visiting team.

 

Thomas Lane paced the Mont Alto offense in shots on goal with two. River Terry and Kynn Loss were the other two players who registered shots on goal for Mont Alto in the losing effort.

 

Zach Stum stopped two of his three shots faced in the first half and Jawad Malik stopped three of his seven shots faced in the second half.

 

The loss keeps Mont Alto in third place amongst the PSUAC Men's Soccer standings with two conference games remaining.
