Women's Baskeball Loses to Penn State Lehigh Valley

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball lost their PSUAC matchup to Penn State Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

A successful jump shot by Lehigh Valley in the early stages of the second quarter propelled them to a 17-9 lead with 9:11 remaining. Schuylkill quickly responded, with Monet Edwards (Philadelphia, PA / Swenson Arts and Technology High School) connecting on a three-pointer, sparking an 8-0 Schuylkill run and tying the game at 17-17 with 5:17 to go in the first half.

The next minute of play was fast paced, with both teams exchanging consecutive baskets. After this offensive sequence, Lehigh Valley held a narrow 23-21 lead. They then extended their advantage to a double-digit lead following a late-quarter run. Schuylkill managed to narrow their deficit to nine points, concluding the first half with a five-point swing by Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School).

In the third quarter, Lehigh Valley expanded their lead to twenty points midway through the period. Despite a dominant third quarter by Brandywine, Schuylkill outscored Lehigh Valley 19-13 in the final period of play.

Crockett led Schuylkill in scoring, finishing with 13 points. Jasmine Wright (Sicklerville, NJ / Winslow Township High School) added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Ava Novak (Numidia, PA / Southern Columbia High School) recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds. Also scoring 9 points for Schuylkill was Edwards who collected 8 rebounds in the loss.

Schuylkill (10-12 overall, 5-7 PSUAC) will travel to Penn State Wilkes-Barre for their next matchup. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
