Women's Volleyball Falls in Three Sets to Penn State Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. - Penn State Schuylkill Women's Volleyball fell in three sets to PSUAC opponent Penn State Hazleton.

Hazleton got off to a fast start in Saturday's matchup, securing a 25-7 first set victory. Hazleton took an early lead in the second set, extending it to 11 with an 8-0 run. A kill from Maddy Robinson (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain) and two aces from Mahea Kelley (Bowie, MD / Bowie) brought Schuylkill's deficit to 8. A late kill from Robinson capped off an 11-6 stretch by Schuylkill, bringing the score to 24-21. However, a service error by Schuylkill handed Hazleton the second set.

Two Robinson kills and a kill from Ava Seltzer (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Schuylkill Haven) highlighted a 4-0 start to begin the third set. Hazleton managed to regain control, taking the lead at 13-12 and maintaining it to secure a 25-19 victory in the set.

Sydney Morton (Norfolk, VA / Gateway Christian Academy) led the team in kills with 7. Setlzer added 14 assists for Schuylkill while Robinson held the high number in digs with 17.

Schuylkill (7-14, 4-8 PSUAC) will compete in their final regular season matchup on Monday, October 23rd at Rutgers-Camden. Start time for that matchup is 7:00 p.m.
