Lions, Griffins Play To Scoreless Draw

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine and Gwynedd Mercy played 90 minutes without a goal scorer for either side as the teams battled to a 0-0 draw on Monday afternoon.

Scoring opportunities were at a premium for both teams as the squads combined for just six shots on goal.

Brandywine goalkeeper Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) went untested during the match's first 63 minutes, but needed to turn away four Griffin shots late in the second period to keep the hosts off the board. DeBooth played all 90 minutes, registering his second shutout of the season.

Both of Brandywine's shots on goal came during the opening half. Ali Abdelhady's (Dubai, UAE/Nord Anglia International School) shot was stopped during the 23rd minute and Juan Romero Luna (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) had an attempted stymied just before intermission.

The Lions had a pair of second-half scoring chances, but could not get a marker. Kyle Reuter's (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) free kick from just outside the box sailed wide and Abdelhady's shot from inside the box was blocked late in regulation.

Brandywine (4-3-1) will return home for the first time in 17 days on Wednesday to host Penn State York at 4:00 PM.
