Women's Basketball Loses Matchup to Michigan-Dearborn

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball fell to NAIA opponent Michigan-Dearborn on Sunday.

The first period witnessed back and forth action between the two teams, with a total of 5 lead changes. Michigan-Dearborn managed to secure a 13-8 lead heading into the second period.

During the second period, Michigan-Dearborn extended their lead to as much as 8 points. Kassidy Ingram's (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) made basket with 1:18 left in the period narrowed the gap, bringing Schuylkill within five points as they headed into halftime.

After a made three-point field goal by Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School), Michigan-Dearborn extended their lead to 13 points after a 5-0 stretch with 5:16 remaining. Michigan-Dearborn went into the fourth period leading 45-31.

A made basket by Ava Novak (New Media, PA / Southern Columbia High School) kickstarted an 11-4 Schuylkill run, closing their deficit to 49-42 with 4:23 left in the game. Despite Schuylkill's effort, Michigan-Dearborn responded with a game-ending 11-2 run, securing a 60-44 victory.

Crockett led Schuylkill with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Ingram added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Jasmine Wright (Sicklerville, NJ / Winslow Township High School) notched 11 rebounds in the loss. 

Schuylkill (0-2 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will compete in the Lebanon Valley College Tournament this weekend. Schuylkill will take on Saint Vincent College Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and will cap off their weekend against PSUAC opponent Penn State Hazleton Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
