Brandywine Rallies For Draw; PSUAC Unbeaten Streak Reaches 80-Straight Games

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine found the game-tying goal late in regulation as the Lions' men's soccer team pushed its unbeaten streak against Penn State University Athletic Conference foes to 80-straight matches following a 2-2 draw at Penn State New Kensington on Saturday.

Ali Abdelhady's (Dubai, UAE/Nord Anglia International School) goal at the 75:15 mark allowed Brandywine to extend its streak (77-0-3), which dates back to September 19, 2015.

After trailing at the half, Brandywine controlled the pace of the game throughout the second period, recording the first eight shots of the second half. Lions' goalkeeper Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) needed to make two stops late to preserve the draw.

New Kensington got on the board during the second minute of the contest, but Brandywine struck for the equalizer less than 20 minutes later. Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) deposited Jayden Barragan's (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) corner kick for his PSUAC-leading 10th goal.

The hosts went back in front at the 27:35 mark and brought a 2-1 edge into intermission.

Brandywine held a slim 11-10 edge in shots and recorded eight of the match's nine corner kicks. DeBooth finished with five saves, as did New Kensington keeper Kenton Knox.

Brandywine (5-3-2, 2-0-1 PSUAC) will play three-straight home games beginning with Sunday's non-conference match against Bryant & Stratton-Rochester (12:00 PM).
