After a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in extra innings in game one, Penn State Schuylkill rallied past Penn State Mont Alto to take game two, 12-6.
How it happened:
Game One
- Mont Alto scored first on a two-out double by McKenna Sas, giving them a 1-0 lead after three innings of play.
- Schuylkill's Kristina McConnell answered with a two RBI double to the left-center field gap, giving Penn State Schuylkill a 2-1 lead after 4 innings of play.
- Schuylkill's fielding miscues allowed Mont Alto to score twice and regain the lead in the 5th inning, 3-2.
- Schuylkill tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from Makenna Wong.
- Schuylkill failed to capitalize on the international tiebreaker in the top of the 8th, which allowed Mont Alto to take advantage of the opening and score on a wild pitch for the win, 4-3.
Game Two
- Mont Alto jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 2 innings of play.
- Sierra Santarsiero went 5.2 innings of scoreless relief, only allowing 3 hits.
- In the top of the fifth inning, Schuylkill tallied 8 runs to take a 9-6 lead.
- Schuylkill scored 3 more times in the 7th for a commanding 12-6 lead.
- Meghan Stokes went 2-5 with a triple, stolen base, and 4 RBIs.
- Emily Maher went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored.
