Five First-Half Goals Propel Brandywine To Victory Over Gallaudet

MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team scored five times during the match's first 45 minutes and never looked back en route to defeating Gallaudet 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

It took the Lions just 35 seconds to get on the board as Jayden Barragan (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) was on the receiving end of a Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodawn) crossing pass and deposited his first goal of the season.

Christian Zavala (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) recorded the first of his three assists on a marker from Omar Simpson (Bear, Del./Christiana) at the 4:20 mark. Manful followed with a pair of goals, extending Brandywine's edge to 4-0 by the 27-minute mark.

Mateo Loyo (Iona, N.Y./Iona Preparatory) added Brandywine's fifth tally of the first half with less than three minutes to play before intermission.

The Lions tacked on three more goals during the second half. Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) tapped in a goal at the 59:02 mark, while Ali Abdelhady (Dubai, UAE/Nord Anglia International School) scored twice in a span of 43 seconds to cap the scoring.

Offensively, Brandywine collected 22 shots and 11 players recorded at least one point. Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) and Will Manarpaac (Boerne, Texas/Samuel V. Champion) split time in net for Brandywine. DeBooth earned the win earned the win after making three first-half stops, while Manarpaac turned away three Bison shots during the final 45 minutes.

Brandywine (7-3-2, 2-0-1 PSUAC) is back at home Saturday to host Wilson at 1:00 PM.
