Beaver stands strong at home against Greater Allegheny 75-67
Lady Lions win 4th straight game over Penn State Greater Allegheny 75-67
Monaca, PA - The Lady Lions took on Penn State Greater Allegheny in a conference home game tonight. From the opening tip, the game stayed very close. Beaver took an early lead by going up by 8 points with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. Both teams battled back and forth, finishing out the quarter 24-16. The second quarter remained the same with an even fight from both teams scoring 16 points each in the quarter, bring the score at half to 40-32. Coming out of the half, the energy remained similar to the second as the ladies continue to go back and forth, neither decreasing the lead below 6 points or increasing the lead above 8 points. The third quarter wrapped up with both teams scoring 19 points for a final score of 59-51. The fourth quarter seemed to start swaying in the direction of Beaver, as the ladies began to finally increase the margin, but not long before Greater Allegheny brought the game back to an 8-point differential. Again both teams equaled out with 16 points each in the quarter, finish the game with 75-67 for a Beaver win.
Senior Jimya Chambers had 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block. Senior Mikayla Womer had 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Senior Alexis Cross had 10 points, 3 rebouns, 1 assist, and 1 steal; This puts Alexis within a 6 point reach of the 1000 point club.
