New Ken falls to GA

New Kensington, PA ---- Penn State New Kensington took a loss against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd.

In the first half, Penn State Greater Allegheny took charge of the game while PSNK tried to keep up.

Jayde Rivera (Dover, DE) and Esther Cole (Brooklyn, NY) kept PSNK in the game with 10 points as Greater Allegheny led the first quarter with 19 points.

The second quarter started with Penn State Greater Allegheny's highest scorer, Tomisha Pierce (Cleveland Heights, OH), bringing them to 21 points with a layup. From there, Greater Allegheny continued to dominate.

By the end of the first half, New Ken had 18 points, four of which were shot by Destiny Batiste (Thibadoux, LA.

The halftime score was 35 – 18.

The second half starts with New Ken adding 11 points to the scoreboard as Penn State Greater Allegheny stays ahead. Individually, Batiste and Jada Norman (New Kensington, PA) add six more to PSNK's score in addition to each of their teammates adding two points.

Entering the last quarter, Callie Cunningham (North Braddock, PA) brings Penn State Greater Allegheny to 53 points while Cole brings PSNK to 39. Reaching five minutes left on the clock, New Ken got up to 50 points while Penn State Greater Allegheny led by 9.

Two minutes went by before PSNK's top two leaders, Cole and Rivera, were assisted in earning PSNK 59 points.

New Kensington took a loss with 59 points and Penn State Greater Allegheny took the win at 64.

Team Leads:

Throughout the game, the performances of Esther Cole, Jayde Rivera, and Destiny Batiste were outstanding.

Cole managed to score another double-double: 18 points and 22 rebounds. She scored 6 out 18 in the first half, followed by 12 in the second.

Rivera scored 17 points: six in the first half and 11 in the second.

Meanwhile, Batiste scored 12 points and had 11 assists. She scored 4 points in the first half, and 8 in the second.
