Beaver falls at home to Washington Adventist

Monaca, Pa. -- The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team lost to Washington Adventist University at home on Friday night, 70-49.
PSUAC Player of the Week, sophomore forward Andrew Brady (Alliance/Marlington), topped Beaver's scoring list, earning a double-double with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds followed by junior guard John Foster (Austin/Del Valle) who earned 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
1st half: The game began with Washington Adventist taking an early 6-0 lead over Beaver but at 15-minute mark, freshman guard Sonny Martinez (Austin) hit a jumper from downtown on an assist by Foster to get Beaver on the board (6-3). At 13:56, junior guard Kevin Louis-Charles (Lawrenceville/Central Gwinnett) suck a 3-point jump shot on an assist by Foster to tie the game at 8-8. The teams kept the game close with Beaver only down by one-possession, but Washington Adventist started to pull away with an 11-point run to take a 12-point lead over Beaver (24-12). While Beaver created scoring opportunities, the shots just didn't fall when they needed, and Beaver trailed 41-18 at halftime.
2nd half: Beaver played better in the second, outshooting Washington Adventist 52.4 percent to 40.7 percent from the field. Brady put up big number for Beaver in the second earning 16 points on 7-8 shots from the field and scoring 2-4 from the charity stripe. Despite the second half effort, Beaver couldn't recover from the early deficit in the first and lost, 70-49.
Box Score Highlights: Beaver earned 10 assists to Washington Adventist's four assists. Beaver also shot 11.7 percent higher from the field than Washington Adventist, outscoring them 31-29 in the second half.
With tonight's loss, Beaver now sits at a 6-3 regular season record but still holds down first place in the PSUAC-West.
Beaver will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 15 to face off against Williamson College of Trade for the PSU Beaver Tournament. Game time is at 1 p.m.
