Brandywine Completes Season Sweep Of Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team eased to its second 3-0 sweep of Penn State Scranton this fall, winning by set scores of 25-4, 25-12, 25-2 on Saturday.

Sydney Terrell (Walkersville, Md./St. John's Catholic Prep) recorded team highs with 13 assists and 10 aces, while Sydney Stevens (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) tallied nine aces. Suzie Alvarenga (Fullerton, Calif./Notre Dame Academy) added seven aces and a pair of digs.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) notched a team-best seven kills and Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) contributed five kills.

Brandywine scored the first 19 points of the afternoon, including seven aces from Terrell, and ran away with the first set 25-4.

The Lions ran out to another big lead during set No. 2 as Floyd capped an 18-0 run with a kill. Scranton got within 11 before a kill from Sophie Scrivo (Chester, Conn./Valley Regional) and an Alvarenga ace ended the set in favor of the Lions.

Brandywine capped off the sweep by notching the final 14 points of the third frame as Alvarenga served up six aces.

Brandywine (10-6, 8-2 PSUAC) plays its final non-conference match of the season Tuesday at Montgomery County Community College at 7:00 PM.
