Dunmore, PA – Sophomore Mid Valley product Mark Longo pitched seven shutout innings for Penn State Scranton on Saturday in a 4-1 win over Penn State Hazleton. Longo fanned seven, allowing only four hits on the day for the Lions. Scranton alum, junior Robbie McAndrew, led the way offensively, going an impressive 3-4 at the plate and scoring a run while Honesdale grad, freshman Cole Bannon, chipped in two hits, including a three-run home run, helping lead the way to the win. Holy Cross product, junior Carson Cacioppo, also recorded two runs for Scranton.

In his second appearance as head coach for the Scranton Lions, Dunmore native Vito Ruggiero coached the team to their first win in four seasons. Taking over before the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID19, Ruggerio wasn't able to see his team in live action until this week, going 1-1 against PSUAC east teams, along with new assistant and former MLB middle-relief pitcher Ken Grundt.

Six batters recorded hits for the visitors, including a double each for Mason Goida and Bryce Dalpiaz.

The Scranton Lions will head to Penn State York this Tuesday for their first road game of 2021.
