Women's Basketball Wins Big Against Penn State Scranton

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball won by a large margin against Penn State Scranton on Saturday.

With the score even at 8-8 entering the second quarter, Schuylkill jumped out to a 9-2 run to extend their lead to 17-10 with 6:10 remaining in the second. Schuylkill led by as many as nine during the period.

The pair of Ava Novak (Numidia, PA / Southern Columbia High School) and Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) scored three consecutive baskets for Schuylkill to begin the third quarter, extending Schuylkill's lead to double-digits and forcing a Scranton timeout. Schuylkill continued to add on to their scoring total as a three pointer by Novak at the 3:54 mark in the third extended their lead to 40-20. Schuylkill outscored Scranton 27-7 during the period. Schuylkill achieved their largest lead of the contest, 32 points, with 3:06 remaining in the game following a made three pointer by Crockett.

Novak finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds for Schuylkill. Crockett dropped 20 points and 9 rebounds. Serena Jones scored 10 points (Tamaqua, PA / Tamaqua High School). Malak Mowafi (Iselin, NJ / John F Kennedy Memorial High School) dished out a game-high 7 assists.

Schuylkill (13-13 overall, 7-8 PSUAC) will return to action on Tuesday, February 13th as they host Penn State Brandywine at 6:00 p.m.
