Women's Basketball Loses Conference Opener To Penn State York

YORK, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball dropped their conference opener to Penn State York, 58-39.

Penn State York had a strong start, pulling ahead 16-2 in the first period. Schuylkill managed to narrow the gap to single digits with a 5-0 run at the end of the period. York then took control with a 15-2 run, extending their lead to 21 points with 3:50 left in the second. Schuylkill mirrored their late surge from the first period, closing the margin with a late run to end the second period.

In the final period, Schuylkill outscored York 17-14, with Ava Novak (New Media, PA / Southern Columbia High School) contributing 10 of her team-high 14 points during the fourth quarter. The rebounding battle was dominated by Schuylkill, securing a 53-39 advantage. Novak, along with Serena Jones (Tamaqua, PA / Tamaqua High School) and Megan Hauser (Lehighton, PA / Lehighton Area High School) recorded impressive rebounding figures of 13, 14, and 10, respectively.

Schuylkill (1-6 overall, 0-1 PSUAC) will remain in conference play for their next five contests, hosting Penn State New Kensington on Friday, December 1st. Start time for that matchup is 6:00 p.m.
