Women's Volleyball Loses 3-0 to Cairn University

LANGHORNE, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Volleyball took on NCAA Division III opponent Cairn University on Friday, in which they fell to Cairn in three sets.

The game kicked off with an electrifying start as Maddy Robinson (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain) delivered a kill for Schuylkill on the very first play, assisted by Sydney Morton (Norfolk, VA / Gateway Christian Academy). Cairn quickly countered with a 6-0 run. Just when Cairn seemed to be pulling away, Robinson struck again with another kill, momentarily stopping Cairn's momentum. A 3-0 Schuylkill run, highlighted by a kill from Ava Seltzer (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Schuylkill Haven) brought them within seven. However, Cairn capitalized on a run of their own, tallying 8 consecutive points to close out the set in their favor.

Cairn took control of the second set, ultimately winning the set 25-5. Tajae Stevenson (Paterson, NJ / John F. Kennedy) and Mahea Kalley (Bowie, MD / Bowie) both earned kills for Schuylkill during the set.

Schuylkill started the third set with a 3-2 lead, thanks to two consecutive kills by Morton and an attack error by Cairn. Schuylkill continued to play aggressively, tallying 8 kills during the set. However, Cairn mounted a 5-0 stretch that extended their lead to 20-11. Schuylkill was unable to recover from the deficit, and Cairn ultimately claimed the third set.
