Brandywine Cruises To Non-Conference Triumph

MEDIA, Pa. -- Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) combined for 47 points as the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team earned a 98-75 non-conference victory over Central Penn on Monday night.

Floyd buried four three-pointers and knocked down all four of her free throw attempts en route to a 24-point effort, while Diawara was 5-of-6 from three-point range and poured in 23 points. Floyd also hauled in a team-high nine rebounds and Diawara grabbed five.

Brandywine shot 47 percent from the field and canned 12 triples on 27 attempts. The Lions received 31 points from their reserves and tallied 30 points off 22 Knight turnovers.

Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Diawara fueled the Lions' offense during the opening quarter as Koger scored the team's first six points and notched nine overall during the period, while Diawara connected for three triples during the final 2:02, and Brandywine held a 26-19 edge after one quarter.

Aided by 14 points from Floyd and a Diawara basket, Brandywine closed the second stanza with a 17-2 surge, upping the margin to 56-31 at the break.

The Lions continued to pour it on in the second half, using a three-pointer from Katelyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) and a layup by Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) to lead 81-47 late in the third quarter. Diawara's triple to open the final period marked the biggest margin of the night at 42 points.

Stewart-Harold added 11 points and five rebounds, while Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) notched 10 points. Koger chipped in nine points, six rebounds and five assists and Johnson amassed seven points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Brandywine's (9-9, 7-5 PSUAC) final seven games will come against conference opponents beginning with Saturday's visit to Penn State Wilkes-Barre (1:00 PM).
